OSHKOSH, Neb. – The Lingle-Fort Laramie High School wrestling team placed three at the annual Garden County Invite in Oshkosh on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Joel Costello led the Dogger team with a 106-pound championship.
Costello picked up 3-0 and 11-10 decision victories en route the first-place match. In the final match, Costello recorded a 16-5 major decision to earn the championship over Dutch Yates of Garden County High School.
Costello wasn’t the only Dogger to reach the championship, as Zane Rising did the same at 160 pounds.
Rising got a fall in the opening round and back it up with a 16-11 decision in the semifinal. In the final match of the day, Rising suffered a 5-0 loss to Jace Wid of Perkins County.
Jaden Houk was the other member of the L-FL team to place.
He finished the day off with a pin over Blake Web of Dundy County in the third-place match in the 120-pound bracket.
Gage Gibson (145 pounds) and Jessy Valentine (220) also earned wins for the Doggers but didn’t not place in their respective weight classes.
As a team, the Doggers finished ninth with 54 points. Sedgwick County, Colo. won the team title with 123, while Mitchell, Neb. was second with 117.
Lingle travels to the Newcastle Invite on Friday, Jan. 17 and will host Gering, Neb. JV at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
