District FBLA students stand out at state

TORRINGTON – Local FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members made their mark at the state contest last week, securing several chapter, team, and individual awards, as well as state offices.

“I traveled with 16 (Torrington High School) FBLA members to the (University of Wyoming) College of Business in Laramie March 20-23,” Adviser Kristi McGuire said in an email regarding the event. “We had a good trip, and the team did well overall.”

As a whole, the chapter received three awards, including the “Snowball Campaign”.

“The snowball campaign is a state-only recognition that requires the chapter to continually recruit new members at the beginning of the year,” McGuire explained. “THS started the year with 10 members and increased to 17 before the January deadline.”

National qualifiers, or students who received a first- through fourth-place designation, are Jared Clapper (of Southeast), Brady Tosh (SE), Emi Glass (THS), Maryssa Lira (THS), and Cora Frederick (Lingle-Fort Laramie). These FBLA members are eligible to travel to San Antonio, Texas, on June 28-July 2 for the next level of competition.
