Delores A. Dummitt

TORRINGTON – Delores Ann Dummitt died at Goshen Care Center on Dec. 29, 2020. Delores was born Nov. 19, 1929, at Bayard, Neb. She moved with her parents, Iliff and Lucy Dummitt, to Morrill, Neb. She graduated from Morrill High School in 1940.

Delores married Charles Carson on March 27, 1950, and to this union, they had three daughters Cherie, Karyn and Rene’. They farmed south of Lyman, Neb., Lingle and Morrill, Neb. Delores worked at Farmers State Bank in Lyman, Neb., until she retired in 1988. Charles passed away on May 12, 1971.

She married Ivan Benjamin on May 25, 1973, and they made their home in Gering, Neb., until Ivan passed away in 2010. Delores then moved to Torrington to be close to her daughter, Karyn. 

Delores was active in Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star. Her greatest joy was being with family and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved to bake and enjoyed giving out cookie trays. Delores liked to crochet and made beautiful crocheted tablecloths for each of her children and grandchildren.  

Survivors include her daughter Karyn (Brian) Grasmick, granddaughter Amy Bates (Frank Jones), grandson Brent (Kendall) Grasmick, granddaughter Andrea (Josh) Wetherington, three great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, two great-great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandsons. Sons-in-law Rodger Derr and Sam Adams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Irene Carson, mother-in-law Dorthia Benjamin, brother Donald Dummitt, daughters Cherie Carson and Rene’ Adams.

Due to COVID-19, services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com, and Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church in Torrington.
