Dear Editor,
I heard on the radio this morning (Feb. 7, 2017) that the Wyoming Senate killed Senate File 125, 22 no to 8 yes. This bill would have kept Wyoming on Daylight Savings Time permanently without having to change our clocks twice a year. Some time ago in January I had written to Senator Meier and Representative Steinmetz requesting that they look into this and perhaps push legislation to keep us either on Mountain Time or Daylight Savings Time. I have looked into the history of Daylight Savings time and I cannot see the use of it. I don’t believe it saves energy and I have never understood why the calendar dates for the time change were changed. I find falling back or springing forward irksome and disorienting. Am I alone in this? Apparently not. Eight senators voted yes. Maybe if all of us who are tired of this useless time game wrote to our reps, something could be done next year. How about it?
Beth Melonuk,
Fort Laramie
