Cyclones withstand double overtime

TORRINGTON – It was a late night for the Southeast Cyclones, pulling off a 58-57 double overtime win over Wright in the semi-finals of the 2A East Regional Tournament, earning a spot in the regional championship game and the state tournament.

It was a back-and-forth game, with Wright leading 34-33 heading into the final quarter. Hayden Anderson stepped up big by hitting a deep three late in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 41 and send it to overtime. Both teams poured in 10 points in the first overtime period, sending the game to double overtime at 51-51.

Southeast's three seniors, Brady Fullmer, Sterling Werner and Kaden Malm, all fouled out in the first overtime so the younger players had to step up. Brant Fullmer did just that, banking a three-pointer in with 15.3 seconds left, giving Southeast the lead and the eventual win, 58-57.

With a win, Southeast earned a spot in the state tournament next week. The Cyclones play Pine Bluffs tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Eastern Wyoming College for the regional title.
