WRIGHT – The Southeast Cyclones converted a two-point conversion at the end of regulation to force overtime and went on to beat Wright on the road Friday in two overtimes, 30-29.

Dawson Beck got the scoring started for Southeast, scoring on a 66-yard play to open the game. The Panthers trailed 6-0 heading into the second quarter, a frame that Wright scored two touchdowns in to take a 14-6 lead into intermission.

With a minute to go, Wright muffed a snap on the punt and Southeast jumped on the loose ball, taking over possession on the four-yard line. Beck punched in the score on a three-yard run with 48 seconds to go. The Cyclones needed two points to force overtime, and Beck again converted for Southeast, knotting the game up at 14, which forced overtime.

In the first overtime, Brady Fullmer scored on a one-yard run and converted a two-point conversion via toss to Sterling Werner. Wright rallied with a 20-yard touchdown pass of their own and a successful two-point conversion, sending the game to a second overtime tied up at 22.

Wright was the team to strike first in the second overtime and they went for the point-after-attempt, taking a 29-22 lead. The Cyclones took the ball and scored on a six-yard run by Fullmer. Beck again came up big in crunch time, converting the two-point conversion to give Southeast the 30-29 win.

Beck was the top runner for the Cyclones, recording 114 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Chase Lovercheck also toted the rock 10 times, amassing 72 yards. Fullmer was third in carries, chipping in 35 yards and two scores.

In the passing game, Werner had two receptions for 42 yards, while Beck hauled in a catch for 17 yards.

On defense, Tanner Hort had a huge game, accounting for eight solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles and four tackles-for-loss. Werner was second on the team in solo tackles, with three, while Lovercheck added five. Beck and Harrison Hall combined for the team’s only sack.

With the win, Southeast sits at 2-1 on the season with wins over Wright and Bayard, Neb. and a loss to Big Horn. The Cyclones return to their home field to play the Cheyenne Central JV squad at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
