Cyclones secure conference win

GLENROCK – The Southeast Cyclones built a nine-point halftime lead and cruised to a 46-30 win on the road over Glenrock on Saturday, upping their conference record to 3-0.

The Cyclones poured in 11 points in the first quarter, while limiting the Herders to seven. In the second, Southeast outscored the home team 9-4 to hold a 20-11 lead at the break. Southeast scored nine points again in the third, while Glenrock racked up seven, giving the Cyclones a 29-18 lead with eight minutes to go. Southeast sealed the deal in the fourth, by outscoring the Herders 17-12 to take the 16-point win.

Sterling Werner packed his stat line, tallying 15 points, 19 rebounds, with six coming off the offensive end of the floor. Werner also had an assist, two steals and a block to his credit, while shooting 6-of-13 from the floor.

Hayden Anderson chipped in 10 points to round out the Cyclones in double-figures. The freshman notched six rebounds, an assist and a steal. Brady Fullmer accounted for eight points and two rebounds, while Brant Fullmer kicked in five points, a board, two assists and a team-high four steals.

Cade Herring, Bodie Herring and Sawyer Anderson combined for eight points, four boards, four assists and a steal. Cade Herring had a team-high three assists.

Southeast shot 34 percent from the field, while limiting Glenrock to 19 percent shooting. The Cyclones also outrebounded Glenrock 32-23.

The Cyclones have won four-straight games to up their record to 6-8, with a 3-0 record against conference opponents, tying them for the top spot with Pine Bluffs (14-1, 3-0). Southeast played Mitchell, Neb. on Tuesday after press time. The Cyclones return to action Thursday, when they take on Lingle-Fort Laramie at Eastern Wyoming College, starting at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, Southeast hits the road to take on Pine Bluffs at 6 p.m.
