TONGUE RIVER – The Southeast Cyclones outgained the Tongue River Eagles by more than 350 yards Friday and used a 33-point second quarter to pick up the 45-0 road win.

The first quarter was scoreless after a long run by Dawson Beck was called back by penalty. In the second quarter, Beck found the end zone multiple times. He made runs of 11 and six yards for scores, both of which came in the first four minutes of the frame. Chase Lovercheck then got in on the scoring action, going for a 68-yard scamper for the score, putting the Cyclones up 19-0 with 6:15 to go before halftime.

Beck wasn’t done scoring after his first two touchdowns, taking a two-yard run into the end zone, still in the second quarter. Brady Fullmer scored the final touchdown of the quarter, taking it in from a yard out.

Southeast took a 33-0 lead into the break and came out hot after halftime. Less than three minutes into the third quarter Mick Steinhausen scored on a two-yard run. Fullmer was again in on a scoring play, but this time it was a pass for one yard and the score to Sterling Werner. The connection led to six more points for the Cyclones with less than a minute to go in the third, giving the Cyclones their winning score of 45-0.

Lovercheck led the way for the Cyclones in rushing, with 179 yards on the night, but Beck accounted for the most touchdowns, with three. Beck finished the night with 133 yards on the ground. Fullmer and Steinhausen combined for two touchdowns and 49 yards on 12 carries.

In the passing game, Fullmer went 6-for-10 for 95 yards and a touchdown. Beck had one reception for 55 yards, but Werner was Fullmer’s favorite target, hauling in three receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown.

Southeast finished the game with 465 yards in the game, while limiting Tongue River’s offense to 96 yards. The Cyclones averaged eight yards per play, compared to the Eagles’ 2.5 yards per play.

Steinhausen was the top player on the stifling defense, racking up six solo tackles, three assisted tackles and two tackles for loss. Connor Smith was not far behind, accounting for five solo tackles and two assisted tackles. Lovercheck and Werner were forces in the backfield, with each senior accounting for two tackles for loss.

The Cyclones now have a 3-2 record with a 2-2 record in the conference. They currently sit fourth in the east standings. Southeast’s next game comes against the east’s top team, Pine Bluffs, who is 6-0 this fall. The Cyclones and Hornets play in Pine Bluffs on Friday at 7 p.m.
