YODER – A three-pointer by Burns with less than 10 seconds on the clock downed the Southeast Cyclones on Saturday at home, 44-43.
The Cyclones and Broncs were tied at 12 after the first frame. Southeast gained a three-point advantage by intermission, 25-22. The Cyclones added some distance in the third quarter, outscoring Burns 14-8.
After being down by nine heading into the fourth quarter, Burns began to mount a comeback. With 1:14 left, the Broncs trailed by four, trimming that lead to two with 30 seconds left. They nailed a three with 3.2 seconds remaining. Connor Humphrey had a contested lay up at the buzzer that bounced off the rim, but did not drop.
The Cyclones had three players in double-figures. Jacob Schmitt led the way with 12 points, while Brady Fullmer and Chance Werner added 11 points apiece. Fullmer was second on the team in boards, with four, while Schmitt and Werner combined for four. Schmitt and Fullmer each had three assists and a steal. Fullmer had a team-high two blocks.
Outside of the top-three, Dalton Keller, with four, Sterling Werner, with three, and Humphrey, with two, rounded out the scorers for the Cyclones. Sterling Werner led Southeast in rebounds, with five, and assists, with four.
Southeast 46, Lusk 24
In previous season action, Southeast blanked Lusk in the first quarter on the road Friday on their way to a 46-24 win.
After the 14-0 lead after the first frame, the Cyclones took a 23-4 advantage into intermission. The Tigers scored 10 points in both the third and fourth quarters, while the Cyclones poured in 23 points in the second half to cruise to the win.
