“Against Thunder Basin I went 12 deep on the bench,” coach Crockett Herring said. “I got to see a lot of guys play. We are still trying to find out chemistry.”

After the first overtime period, the two teams were still not separated, forcing a second overtime, where the Rams pulled away by two points. Between the two overtime periods, Big Horn outscored Southeast 13-11.

“We lost our cool,” Herring said. “The pressure of the situation forced some mental mistakes and some of them were mine.”

Twenty-seven of the Cyclones’ points came from the charity stripe, where they took 45 free-throws, with the Rams committing 32 fouls. Southeast committed 29 fouls of its own, sending Big Horn to the line for 29 free-throws, where it knocked down 16.

At the end of the weekend, the Cyclones sit at a 2-8 record this winter, falling in six of their last seven games. Southeast looks to right the ship Saturday when they take on cross-county rival Lingle-Fort Laramie at Eastern Wyoming College. The tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.

“It’s a rivalry game,” Herring said. “I think it’ll come down to who wants to win more and who can execute.”
