Cyclones fourth at T-Town

TORRINGTON – Both the Southeast boys’ and girls’ track and field teams finished fourth in their second meet of the season at Torrington’s T-Town Qualifier on Thursday at Wiseman Field.

Junior Jordan Stoddard paced the Lady Cyclones, winning all four events she entered.

Stoddard won the long jump (17 feet, 8 inches), high jump (5-5), the 100-meter dash (12.82 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (26.89 seconds).

In long jump, Stoddard beat out teammates Emma Short, who finished sixth at 13-10. Sasha Haines finished 17th at 12-0 1/2, and Sydney Moeller placed 22nd at 9-5.

In the 100-meter dash, Stoddard again beat out a trio of Lady Cyclones. Haines placed third in 13.87 seconds, while Short was seventh in 14.24. Hattie Waltemire came home 19th in 15.73.

In the 200-meter dash, Waltemire finished seven seconds behind Stoddard in 33.73 seconds.

Sophomore Shelby Ekwall picked up the other win for the Lady Cyclones. Her shot-put toss of 31 feet, edged out teammate Harper Boche, who finished second at 30-7. Kodi Anderson placed ninth at 26-5 1/2, while Sadie Cross’ throw of 21-8 was good for 18th.

Freshman Tylar Stoddard placed third in the 400-meter dash in 1 minute, 7.54 seconds, while Moeller finished 11th in 1:26.17.

In the 4x100-meter relay, Haines, Tylar Stoddard, Waltemire and Short crossed the finish line in 56.58 seconds to place fourth.

Haines also finished fourth in pole vault with a height of 5-9.

In discus, Boche finished seventh with a throw of 80-3, beating out Ekwall who finished eighth at 80 feet. Anderson ended the day ninth with a toss of 77-5, while Cross was 26th at 45-6.

The Lady Cyclones finished the day with 87.5 points. Torrington won the team title with 215 points.

In the boys’ division, junior Ryan Clapper and Grant Logsdon won the team’s only event of the day.

Clapper won the 200-meter dash in 23.94 seconds. Wyatt Gladson and Zach Jurek finished 11th and 14th, respectively.

Logsdon won pole vault at a height of 8-9 and the triple jump at a distance of 38-1 1/2. Logsdon beat out Dawson Mullock, who finished third at 36-8 1/2, and Reece Robertson, who placed seventh at 34-3 1/2.

Clapper also finished second in the 100-meter dash in 11.86 seconds and placed second as a member of the 4x100 relay team, which also included Robertson, Mullock and Brant Fullmer.

Fullmer also scored a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 56.34 seconds. Logsdon crossed the finish line in fifth, and Jurek was eighth.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Mullock finished third in 51.78. Mullock also finished fifth in long jump at 18-0 1/2. Clapper finished sixth at 17-8 3/4, and Robertson was seventh at 17-5 1/4.

The Cyclones finished the day with 85 points to place fourth as a team. Torrington won the team title with 154 points. Lingle-Fort Laramie was second with 124 points. Morrill, Neb. was third with 114.

Southeast track and field teams travel to the Okie Blanchard Invite at Cheyenne East High School on Friday, April 9. Action gets underway at 11 a.m.
