COKEVILLE – The Southeast Cyclones went on the road Friday as the No. 4 seed from the east and committed too many turnovers to hang with Cokeville, falling 42-0.

The Panthers scored in the opening quarter, giving themselves a 7-0 advantage after the first 12 minutes. Southeast gave the ball away twice in the second quarter, setting up Cokeville in Cyclone territory. The Panthers punched in both of those possessions to lead 21-0 at the break.

“After that first drive we settled in and started playing defense but then we gave them short fields,” coach Mark Bullington said. “I thought we were going to be down 7-0 at halftime until those turnovers.”

Cokeville came out of the break and scored a touchdown in the third quarter, before scoring again twice in the fourth to win 42-0.

“These kids have never played Cokeville before,” Bullington said. “Playing them over there is really tough. It’s almost a whole different world.”

From the backfield, Brady Fullmer was the top rusher, accounting for 14 yards on 11 carries. Dawson Beck and Chase Lovercheck combined for five yards on 16 carries.

Fullmer went 5-for-15 in the passing game, tallying up 51 yards. His favorite target was Sterling Werner, who hauled in three catches for 23 yards. Beck and Lovercheck each had one reception for 14 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Beck was all over the field, amassing 11 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles. Werner and Tanner Hort each had three solo tackles, while Hort was a part of 10 other tackles and Werner had nine assisted tackles. Harrison Hall finished with one unassisted and nine assisted tackles.

The Cyclones started several underclassmen across the board, compared to Cokeville’s senior-heavy roster. Bullington said that the game Friday with pay off in the next couple of years for Southeast.

“We are going to be freshman and sophomore heavy next year with a couple of juniors and seniors sprinkled in there but we got some experience and we will be good,” Bullington said. “Those kids got some valuable playing time. Game time and playoff experience is irreplaceable.”

The Cyclones finished the year 4-4 with their loss to Cokeville. The Panthers advanced to the semi-finals to take on Big Horn.
