TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Sheriff’s Office hosted Shop with a Cop for local families Friday, Dec. 9. The event featured shopping with local law enforcement officers and supper and gift wrapping at the Elks Lodge No. 372.
The event was coordinated by Goshen County Sheriff Kory Fleenor, Cydney Sharp of the Goshen County Attorney’s Office and Torrington Volunteer Fire Department Chief Lance Petsch.
Also participating in the event was the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 2918 and their auxiliary, Elks Lodge No. 372, the Torrington Police Department, Pizza Hut and Domino’s.
“It’s all about giving back to the community,” VFW Post Commander Michael Alverson said. “Helping the kids out and their families, having a merry and happy Christmas. Christmas is about giving.”
Members of the VFW auxiliary helped kids wrap gifts for their families with wrapping paper and supplied furnished by the VFW, its auxiliary and the Elks Lodge. The kids were then treated to a dinner provided by Pizza Hut and Domino’s and homemade chili from the kitchen of Louis and Barb Russ.
