TORRINGTON – Nearly 120 high school trap shooters from nine schools took part in the third annual Wyoming State High School Clay Target League State Championship Saturday at the Goshen County Sportsman Club.
Nine of the 13 state’s Clay Target League teams were in attendance at the state competition.
Area shooters from the County 7 Claybusters team were well represented in the top results, as the team finished fourth in the final team standings at the end of the day.
Cheyenne East High School won the state title with 452, beating out Campbell County with 442. Wheatland was third with 441.
Brett Gara and Brayden Frazier paced the varsity team. Gara finished tied for 12th with 86, while Frazier scored an 85.
In the junior varsity ranks, Makayla Gill won the girls’ junior varsity division with a score of 85, while Sam Birdsall paced the boys’ junior varsity team with 78 to finish tied for seventh.
In the novice division, Mateo Correa finished tied for fifth in the boys’ division with 73, while Aftyn Hager finished tied for 16th with 36.
