LINGLE – The Lingle Town Council recognized outgoing member Kelly Greenwald and welcomed newcomer Steve Edwardson Wednesday at a regular meeting.
Both Edwardson and returning council member Joe Welte, who retained his seat during last month’s election, took the oath of office to make their positions official.
Mayor George Siglain presented Greenwald with a certificate of appreciation, as well as a key to the city.
“Thank you very much for your service. We will miss you,” Siglin said. “We really appreciate what you did for the council.”
“I enjoyed every minute of it, I just didn’t feel like I was giving it enough time,” Greenwald said. “I learned a lot.”
“I think you did just fine, and I hope I can live up to the standard you set,” Edwardson told Greenwald.
In other business:
n The council approved to pay the bills for May in the amount of $127,679.88.
n Police Chief Endra Moen responded to 67 incidents since the last council meeting, including more than 50 traffic stops.
n Clerk-Treasurer Michele Sussex reported April financials look good. She also advised the town has confirmed the parade route for the upcoming centennial celebration with Wyoming Department of Transportation.
n Lingle Pool manager Brandi Hill said the pool has been extremely busy. Friday, June 15, the pool will show the movie, “Ferdinand” at Whipple Park. Hill said around 80 people attended the last Movie in the Park event.
She also stated on the Summer Solstice, Thursday, June 21, Lingle Pool lifeguards will sponsor a fundraiser, including a bake sale and water aerobics for donations, and give the proceeds to the local Alzheimer’s unit. They may also host a movie at the event.
“I think it’s pretty cool the lifeguards are willing to take that project on,” Siglin said. “Hat’s off to them.”
n Maintenance Supervisor Larry Haeffelin said his office has kept busy with summer repairs and beautification projects.
n The council approved the second reading of ordinances for the annual appropriation for the Town of Lingle for the upcoming fiscal year, as well as granting a franchise to Vyve Broadband to maintain a cable communications system in the town.
n The town appointed Welte as Mayor Pro-tem – a position previously held by Greenwald.
n The next 100th anniversary meeting will be held Monday, June 11 at 7 p.m.
n The next council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20 at 5 p.m. at Lingle Town Hall.
