Trip dates changed
TORRINGTON – The Eastern Wyoming College Community Education department has announced a date change for the upcoming bus trip for the Johnstown, Colo., Candlelight Dinner Theatre production of The Music Man.
The trip is now scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, departing the EWC parking lot at 9 a.m. and returning to Torrington around 7 p.m. Cost for the trip is $70, which includes entrée, beverage and tip.
Deadline for paid registration is Oct. 6.

Lockwood Reunion
GERING, Neb. – Legacy of the Plains Museum will host a reunion for all former Lockwood employees, from 1 – 5 p.m., Friday. Former employees will discuss memories working for T. J. Lockwood and rare archival film will be shown. Potato equipment will also be discussed.
Meeting will be held in the community room and is open to the public to attend at
no charge.

Goshen Republicans to meet
TORRINGTON – Goshen County Republican Party Central Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the Platte Valley Bank Community Room.

Grief group forming
TORRINGTON – Dealing with grief and the loss of a loved one will be the focus of a support group forming at the Goshen County Senior Friendship Center here.
Using the GriefShare program model, facilitator Judy Chaffin will lead attendees through the grieving process. Discussions will include recovering from the loss, understanding grief is a normal process and dealing with anger as they move forward to rebuild their lives.
The group will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays for 13 weeks, beginning Sept. 14.

Annual quilt show

TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Quilters group will host its annual show, Quilts Along the Platte, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 15 – 17, at the Rendezvous Center on the Goshen County Fairgrounds in Torrington.
Show hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday.  Beverly Erickson is the 2017 featured quilter. Admission is free.
The Goshen County Quilters meet monthly, September to June, on the second Saturday of the month. Meetings are open to anyone interested in quilting. For additional information, including future meeting locations, call (307) 532-5221 or (307) 640-4002.

Historical Society to meet
TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Historical Society will meet Saturday, Sept. 23, to plan for the future.
The meeting will focus on the election of officers and proposed meeting changes. There will not be a program. Lunch will be served at noon at the Torrington VFW, 908 W. 25th Ave., which is handicap accessible.
Cost is $10 for the meal, with RSVP’s due by noon, Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Reservations do not need to be made to attend the meeting that follows.

Smart Driver Course offered
TORRINGTON – The Friendship Senior Center in Torrington, in association with AARP, will offer two sessions of the group’s Smart Driver Course, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday Sept. 18, and again Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the senior center in Torrington.

Free concert
TORRINGTON – North Hills and SONrise Church will host a free, back-to-school concert starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Pioneer Park on West D Street here.
Performing will be Lincoln, Neb.-based Christian rock band VOTA with special guests Foreverlin.
The concert is for all students in junior and senior high school and features free food and music.

Pet vaccination clinic set
TORRINGTON – The Veterinary Technology Club at Eastern Wyoming College will host a pet vaccination clinic this month in conjunction with Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter.
The clinic is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the shelter, 980 W 11th Ave., in Torrington. The clinic will operate on a walk-in only basis, with no appointment necessary.
Club members will offer rabies vaccinations for $10, five-way canine vaccinations for $10 and feline five-way for $10. In addition, students will offer nail trimming for $5 and microchipping for $20.

Flu clinics set
GOSHEN COUNTY – Public health officials have announced several flu inoculation clinics set for October around the county.
Prime flu season in the state starts in late December and continues through May. Goshen County Public Health has the most current, quadravalent flu vaccines in stock, which may prevent infection or reduce the risk of complications if people do get sick.
Flu clinics will be:
• Monday, Oct. 2 – 10:30 – 11 a.m. at LaGrange Senior Center; 1 – 2 p.m. at Yoder Senior Center;
• Tuesday, Oct. 3 – 9 – 11 a.m. at Lingle Senior Center; 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Laramie Senior Center;
• Thursday, Oct. 5 – 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Torrington Senior Center, and;
• Friday, Oct. 6 – Goshen County Public Health.
Open clinics will be offered from 8 –10 am. At the Goshen County Public Health office, 2025 Campbell Drive, Suite No. 1, in Torrington, as vaccine is available.
Medicare recipients are requested to bring their cards with them when receiving vaccination. Costs of inoculations not billed to Medicare is $30, payable at time of service. Receipts will be given, which may be turned in to insurance carrier or employer.
