County Republican convention set

TORRINGTON – The Goshen County Republican Party will host its county convention beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, in the Pony Express Room at Torrington City Hall.

Voting is limited to elected delegates, but all Republicans may attend and watch the proceedings.

Rotary to host wine gala

TORRINGTON – The Torrington Rotary Club is gearing up for its 17th annual Rotary Wine Tasting Gala.

The gala this year is scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Rendezvous Center on the Goshen County Fairgrounds campus in Torrington. Tickets for the event are $30 and may be purchased from any Rotary Club member or by contacting Joe Guth, (307) 532-2111.

Civil War program set

LINGLE – The Western History Center here will host a program, entitled Civil War Fire Arms at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will be presented by Dennis Eisenbarth of Torrington. The Western History Center is located five miles west of Lingle on U.S. Hwy. 26.

Historical Society program announced

TORRINGTON – Rick Ewig will be special guest speaker for a program this month, presented by the Goshen County Historical Society.

The program is set for 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, in the community room at Platte Valley Bank in Torrington. The program is free and the public is invited to attend.

Ewig will talk about his new book on Wyoming’s capital city, Cheyenne: A Sesquicentennial History, covering the more than 150-year history of the community that’s served as the cornerstone for industry, tourism, military history and politics for the state. The program will touch on the impacts these issues have had state wide.

Ewig retired in 2016 after serving 19 years as associate director of the American Heritage center at the University of Wyoming. He is a past president of the Wyoming State Historical Society and has edited the Annals of Wyoming magazine since the late 1980s.

Kinder pre-registration announced

TORRINGTON – Pre-registration for kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year at Lincoln Elementary School is set for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 through Thursday, April 12, at the school.

Registration packets may be picked up at the Lincoln School office, 1402 East P St., prior to the registration dates. Parents need to present a certified birth certificate and immunizations records at the time of registration. 

Students must be five-years-old or older on or before Sept. 15 to register for kindergarten.

Job Expo returns to EWC

TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College will host its annual Job Expo, set for Tuesday, April 17, in the Petsch Center Gymnasium on the campus in Torrington.

The Expo will be open to the general public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register a business or company, or for additional information, contact Jo Ellen Keigley at (307) 532-8288.
