Farmers Market opens
FORT LARAMIE – The annual Fort Laramie Farmers Market will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays at the Log Cabin Information Center on U.S. Hwy. 26 here.
There will be plenty of lawn games, friends to visit and, perhaps, a surprise or two throughout the season, Jennifer Lanier said. All items for sale at the market are home grown, produced
or made.

Group raises funds for youth center
TORRINGTON – Brave C.A.T.S., a local non-profit youth organization, is holding a raffle through July 1 to raise organizational money that will help bring a youth facility to Torrington.
Lamar Mainor, executive director of the organization said they have a $40,000 commitment from the Daniels Fund if Brave C.A.T.S. can raise an additional $30,000.
He said the group has been looking at buildings in town to refurbish that would be a good fit for a youth facility and have a few candidates they are considering.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at Points West Community Bank, 2234 Main Street, Torrington and cost $1 per ticket. The person with the winning ticket will receive a $50 Walmart gift card.

Panhandle square dance
GERING, Neb. – The Oregon Trail Dance Club will host two dances this weekend in Gering and Kimball, Neb.
A special dance is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the IOOF Hall in Gering, with Bill Hehnke calling. PLUS dancing is scheduled from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
On Sunday, the club will host a picnic and dance at the old 4-H Building in Kimball, with Luck Kochenower calling. Pre-rounds begin at 3:30 p.m. and the regular dance kicks
off at 4 p.m.


LaGrange Mini Fair set
LAGRANGE – LaGrange will host its annual Mini Fair throughout the day Saturday, June 24.
The day kicks off at 7 a.m. with Breakfast in the Park. The annual Pet Parade takes to the streets at 9:30 a.m., followed by the main parade at 10 a.m. Foot and bike races round out the morning, along with the car/pickup, motorcycle and tractor parade and show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Main Street.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Afternoon events include kids games, bingo and a Build Your Own Stick Horse workshop, all from 1 to 3 p.m. The Kids Gymkhana rodeo event, featuring poles, barrels, flags and pee wee goat tying, takes off at 12:30 p.m.
The day wraps with a barbecue supper, hosted by Bear Creek Guys and Gals 4-H Club, from 5 to 7 p.m.

EWC to host Reception
TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College will host a reception to honor Dr. Richard Patterson on his retirement and welcome new president Dr. Lesley Travers on Thursday, June 29, from 5 to 7 p.m.
This reception will be held in the EWC Student Center and is open to the public.

It’s All Greek takes the stage
TORRINGTON – Mark your calendars for a free night of theater entertainment later
this month.
The Goshen County Theater Youth Theater Workshop will present It’s All Greek to Me! Originally written by Goshen County students, the play is an adaptation of a trio of Greek myths.
The production includes a good helping of comedy and music, director Lisa Fluckiger said.
The play will take the stage for one night only on Thursday, June 29, with a 7 p.m. curtain, on the stage at the Torrington High School Auditorium.

VBS pre-registration open
TORRINGTON – Pre-registration for youth ages four to teenaged is open for the Christ Reformed Presbyterian Church of Torrington Vacation Bible School.
Theme for the event is time travel to ancient Rome. Attendees will explore the caves of the Underground Church, meet the Apostle Paul and more, including Bible-times projects, real-life dramas, games and Mediterranean snacks.
The VBS will be 9 to 11:15 a.m. daily, July 10 to 14 at the church, 2141 West A St. in Torrington. For more information, call (307) 837-3057 or (307) 837-2403.

Smart Driver course to be offered
TORRINGTON ­– The Torrington Senior Friendship Center will host a Smart Driver course from the AARP on July 11 and Aug. 14.
Times for the course will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Senior Center in Torrington. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for
non-members.
