Midnight in Paris showing set
TORRINGTON – The Goshen County AARP Community Action Group and the Senior Friendship Center in Torrington will host a special movie afternoon this month in honor of Valentine’s Day.
The public is invited to a free showing of the romantic comedy Midnight in Paris, set for 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Senior Friendship Center activity room in Torrington. Released 2011, Midnight in Paris, written and directed by Woody Allen, features Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates.
The film tells the story of a nostalgic screenwriter who, while on a trip to Paris with his fiancée’s family, finds himself transported nightly to the 1920s. His love of the city illustrates the illusion people have that a life different from their own would be better.

The special showing of American in Paris is the second in a series presented by the AARP Action Group and the Senior Center as part of the national AARP Movies for Grownups program.

Oregon Trail club hosts dances
GERING, Neb. – The Oregon Trail Dance Club will host a country-western dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at the IOOF Hall in Gering with Lucky calling. The evening will kick off with PLUS dancing from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
The club will also host a dance from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the old 4-H Building at the Kimball County Fairgrounds in Kimball with caller Roger Schappell. Pre-rounds run from 3:30 to 4 p.m.

Youth Golf Camp announced
TORRINGTON – The Community Education Department at Eastern Wyoming College will host a golf camp for area youth later this month.
The camp, for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, is scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 26-28, in Tebbet Room 131-132. Cost for the camp is $35, which includes a free visor and practice
golf balls.
EWC Golf head coach Zach Smith and Lancer golfers will serve as instructors. The focus of the camp will include safety, game fundamentals from swing to putting and golf-course etiquette. Special, indoor and kid-friendly equipment will also
be provided.

Pratt-Ferris Ranch presentation
TORRINGTON – The history and impact on the local agriculture community of the Pratt-Ferris Ranch will be the topic of a presentation at the next meeting of the Goshen County Historical Society.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the community room of the Platte Valley Bank branch on North Main Street in Torrington. Special guest will be Donna Cay Heinz, who will talk about the historic ranch, which was located in eastern Wyoming.
The Pratt-Ferris Ranch was owned and operated in Goshen County by the Pratt and Ferris Cattle Company. Founded in 1879, the company also operated the U Cross Ranch on Clear Creek in Johnson County, as well as the Upper PF Ranch, originally located on Rawhide Creek, also in
Goshen County.
The original partners were James Harvey Pratt, Marshall Field, Levi Leiter, Robert M. Fair, and Cornelius Ferris, with Pratt as the general manager of ranching operations.
The presentation is free and the public is invited to attend.

Grief group forming in Torrington
TORRINGTON – Dealing with grief and the loss of a loved one will be the focus of a support group forming now at the Goshen County Senior Friendship Center here.
The support group will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, for 13 weekly sessions, beginning March 1.
Facilitator Judy Chaffin will use the GriefShare program model to lead participants through the grieving process. Discussion will include recovering from loss, understanding the normal process of grieving, dealing with anger and understanding everyone grieves differently, at their own pace.
The purpose of the group will be to assist individuals as they move through the grieving process and rebuild their lives.

Play It Again, Sam hits WNCC stage
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Western Nebraska Community College Theatre Arts Dept. will present the Woody Allen play, Play It Again, Sam, in March.
Dinner theater performances are set for 7:30 p.m. March 2 – 3, with a scheduled 2 p.m. matinee March 4. A show-only performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 4. All productions will be in the New Theater in the John N. Harms Center on campus
in Scottsbluff.
Tickets for the dinner theatre productions are $25 and must be purchased in advance through the WNCC Foundation Office at wnccfoundation.org or (308) 635-6550. Tickets for the show only performance on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. are $5 and can be purchased at the door one hour prior to curtain.
The production follows a recently divorced film magazine writer, Allan Felix, who is trying to restart his romantic life. He falls in love with Linda, the wife of his best friend Dick. Throughout the show, he seeks advice from the ghost of his idol Humphrey Bogart, but soon he realizes he needs to just be himself instead of imitating Bogart.
Cast members include James Maag as Allan Felix, Dani Lopez as Linda Christie, Troy Jacobucci as Dick Christie, James Buxbaum as Humphrey Bogart and Pasiensia Marex as Allan’s girl.
“Play It Again, Sam has been a delight to stage,” said Robert Thompson Jr., WNCC theatre instructor and director “With this play, it is my hope to lead our young men to the conclusion that we don’t need to try to be something we are not.”

Rotary to host wine gala
TORRINGTON – The Torrington Rotary Club is gearing up for its 17th annual Rotary Wine Tasting Gala.
The gala this year is scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Rendezvous Center on the Goshen County Fairgrounds campus in Torrington. Tickets for the event are $30 and may be purchased from any Rotary Club member or by contacting Joe Guth, (307) 532-2111.
