Classes for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s offered at EWC

TORRINGTON – Eastern Wyoming College will host a class series in September for people acting as caregivers for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease.
The classes will be free of charge and open to people caring for family members or friends. Topics will include skills needed to improve the quality of life for people suffering and living with Alzheimer’s Disease in local communities.
According to most current census data, the population of Goshen County is almost 13, 400, with almost one-in-five, about 18 percent, older than age 65, the group most susceptible to the disease.
Currently more than 200 residents of Goshen County are known to have Alzheimer’s Disease. Most of those are living at home, with family, friends and neighbors providing care.
Classes will be offered 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 5 in the new CTEC building, classroom 101 and continuing through the month. To register, contact the EWC Community Education office and Director Donna White at (307) 532-8323 or via email at donna.white@ewc.wy.edu.
