CHEYENNE – Three sites in Goshen County have been included as participating Child and Adult Care Food Program organizations by the Wyoming Department of Education.
Locally, the Lil’ Bits and Spurs Child Care and Wyoming Child and Family Development sites at the Torrington Learning Center and Lincoln Infant and Toddler Center, all in Torrington, are included on the list of approximately 130 agencies state-wide providing meals through the program, according to a DOE press
release Tuesday.
The program reimburses participating organizations for nutritious meals and snacks served to eligible children in child care centers and family day care homes, as well as eligible adults in adult care centers. The program also teaches good eating habits and assures that well-balanced, nourishing meals are served in these participating centers.
Organizations are reimbursed for meals for children 12 years of age and younger. All children may receive free meals from the centers via the program.
Reimbursements are made from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, with some children qualifying for greater reimbursements. Meals are provided to all, regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age. There is no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Eligible meals include those served to children who are in a household enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), foster children, and to children enrolled in Head Start. In addition, meals served to participants in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and those income applications based on household income qualify for reimbursements as defined by the Eligibility Guidelines
