TORRINGTON – A $3 million grant for a proposed 30-unit assisted living facility in Torrington received funding approval from the State Loan and Investment Board, according to a press release Thursday from the Wyoming Business Council.

According to the release, the project “will meet the demand for assisted living, as identified in two market studies. Seniors will have the opportunity to continue living in Goshen County where they might otherwise have to seek assisted living in Nebraska or other communities. The project will also provide employment opportunities in Torrington versus those who would commute for those jobs.”

The projected $7 million project will bring an estimated 15 jobs to the community.

“We’re ecstatic,” said Ashley Harpstrieth, CEO of the Goshen County Economic Development Corporation, which helped spearhead the project.

“This was truly a cooperative effort,” she said. “Health care is the largest employer and the fastest growing sector in our community and we will continue to promote health care in this county.”

Dubbed the Evergreen Plaza Assisted Living Center, the facility will encompass almost 24,000 square feet on a three-acre site, donated by the city of Torrington.
