After a scoreless first inning, both the Cards and Yankees scored a run in the second. The Yankees batted around the lineup in the third, adding four runs for a 5-1 lead heading into the fourth. The Yankees scored again and the Cardinals added three, putting the score at 6-4 heading into the final frame.

In the top of the fifth, the Yankees plated Race Schwartzkopf and Ayden Desmond to take an 8-4 lead. The Cardinals came roaring back.
