GOSHEN COUNTY – Goshen County native Edward Buchanan will keep his position as Secretary of State to the tune of 3,940 local votes, or 82.2 percent, as compared to James W. Byrd’s 740 votes, 15.44 percent; and Kit Carson III’s 113 votes, 2.36 percent.
Buchanan was appointed to the position in March 2018.
Statewide, Buchanan received 136,939 votes; Byrd collected 53,384 votes; and Carson, 8,604.
“Last night was a great night for Republicans across the state,” Buchanan told the Telegram Wednesday. “I am thrilled Wyoming residents showed their confidence in me,” he added, calling the support an affirmation of the job he has done thus far. Buchanan said his future plans include focusing on economic development, the election code, and keeping elections fair.
All results are unofficial until reviewed by a canvassing board.
