CASPER – Both Southeast High School track and field teams brought home hardware from the state meet.

The Cyclones and Lady Cyclones placed third as a team at the 1A State Track and Field Championships at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper.

The Lady Cyclones found themselves in a tight championship battle all weekend, and in the end, Saratoga topped the 1A girls’ standings with 110 points to win the state championship. Cokeville was second with 108, and the Lady Cyclones were third with 106.

The Southeast girls capped off the weekend with five individual state championship.

The weekend started off strong with fife placers on the first day.

Shelby Ekwall won her third consecutive shot put state title with a toss of 40 feet, 5 inches, beating out teammate Harper Boche, who placed second at 36-9 ¼. Madison Boyden finsihed seventh at 31-3 ¾.

Also on Thursday, Kaycee Kosmicki finished fourth in the 3,200-meter run, while the sprint medley relay of Tylar Stoddard, Angie Logsdon, Sasha Haines and Kylee Llewellyn was fifth in 4 minutes, 45.14 seconds.

Southeast was able to maintain the lead in the team standings into Saturday.

Boche and Logsdon picked up state titles on Friday. Boche won discus with a throw of 110-8, while Kodi Anderson was fourth at 102-9.

In pole vault, Logsdon scored the state title victory, clearing 9-3.

Also on Friday, Kosmicki was second in the 800-meter run in 2:27.70.

On Saturday, Stoddard and Logsdon added to the Southeast point total with a third-place and eighth-place showing in the triple jump. Stoddard was three inches off the winning distance with a leap of 35-1 ¼. Logsdon best jump was 31-10 ¾.

The Lady Cyclones also got points from Taylar Hansen, who was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, Macy Tremain, who was sixth in the 400-meter dash and Kosmicki, who was fourth in the mile. 

The Southeast girls capped off the weekend with a win in the 4x400 relay with Tremain, Stoddard, Haines and Kosmicki in 4:14.82.

In the boys’ divison, Wyatt Campbell and the 4x100 relay team led the Cyclones to their lone two state titles of the weekend.

His individual state championship came in the 100-meter dash in 11.18 seconds. Austin Short was fourth in the race in 11.61 seconds.

The senior duo also scored points in the 200 and 400. Campbell was third in the 200 in 23.37 seconds, while Short was fourth in 23.67. Short was also third in the 400 in 51.63 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team of Wyatt Gladson, Dawson Mullock, William Knowlton and Campbell was second in 3:37.82.

Earlier on Saturday, Mullock also finished third in high jump with a height of 5-10.

On Friday, the 4x100 team of Matthew Chapman, Campbell, Mullock and Short won in 44.84 seconds – a full second a half over second place Riverside.

The 4x800 team of Dillion Hasbargen, Lucas Gara, Kannon Tippetts and Knowlton was seventh.

The two relay races were the only points the Cyclones scored on Friday.

On Thursday, the sprint medley relay team of Gladson, Chapman, Knowlton and Tippetts got the Cyclones on the scoreboard with a seventh-place finish in 10:03.26.

The Southeast boys scored 63 points on the weekend. Burlington dominated the team race with 155.5 points. Cokeville was second with 63.
