Blazers track opens at Legler meet

CASPER – The Torrington Trailblazer boys and girls track teams competed in the Glen Legler Memorial Early Bird Invitational in Casper over the weekend, with the boys finishing sixth and the girls taking 12th.
Logan Harris turned in a solid day, taking first in both the shot put and discus. In the shot put, he cleared 56-10, besting the second-place finisher by more than 10 feet. Harris turned in a 136-foot performance to capture the title.
Nathaniel Woodruff took eighth in discus, with a throw of 114-4, and ninth in shot put, turning in a 40-8.5 effort. Jacob Wambolt, Aaron Loya, Corbin Harris, Victor Gomez and Brandon Bennick all competed in the two throwing events. Wambolt had the third-best finish of the Blazers in each of the events, taking 10th in shot put and 16th in discus.
In other field events, Cade Schwartzkoft took eighth in pole vault, clearing 10-6. Tristan DeMott also competed in the pole vault. Casey Britton tied for ninth in the high jump and Liam Adams tied for 27th. Dylan Waller, Jacob Wilhoit and Brett Posten all competed in the long jump.
Torrington’s 4x400-meter relay team of Aaron Borger, Mathew Garcia, Mondell Tolman and Bo Moorehouse took third with a time of 3:40.07. The relay team of Borger, Josh Posten, Cameron Juma and Chance Newman took fifth in the 4x800-meter relay, clocking 9:15.

In the sprints, Moorehouse had the best finish in the 100-meter dash, clocking 12.15 seconds. Frank Rand took 23rd, while Tolman finished 36th. Posten, Waller, Schwartzkoft, Brice Krick, Adams and Preston McCart all competed in the 100-meter dash. Moorehouse, who took 13th, and Tolman, who finished 15th, were the two best Blazers to finish in the 200-meter dash. Posten, Waller, Wilhoit and McCart each raced in the 200. Krick took 17th in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 20.09 seconds.
Borger turned in the best performance among Torrington’s distance runners, taking seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.53. Josh Posten, Cameron Juma and Chance Newman also raced in the 800. Posten had the second-best finish among the Blazers, taking 14th.
Matthew Garcia was the only Blazer to run in the mile, finishing eighth with a time of 5:07.3.
Harris led the way for the Blazers, racking up 20 team points by himself. Torrington’s two relay teams combined for 10 points. Borger added two points for his efforts in the 800-meter run. Garcia, Schwartzkoft and Woodruff each added a point of their own. Torrington racked up 35 team points to finish sixth. Kelly Walsh amassed 136.5 team points, giving them the boys’ team title.
Renee Cline turned in the best performance among the Lady Blazers, taking third in the triple jump with a distance of 31-0.5. In the long jump, she finished ninth with a 15-5 performance.
Also in the long jump, Logan Murphy took fourth, clearing 16-0.75. Murphy also clocked an 18.81 in the 100-meter hurdles, placing her 13th.
Nakalyn Garner took fifth in the pole vault, clearing 8 feet. Also in the pole vault, Onalise Albaugh tied for 12th and Sarandon Keeran tied for 15th.
In other field events, Tayte Rodriguez took 38th in the shot put and 35th in the discus throw. Pamela Pierce placed 16th in discus and 54th in shot put. Vanessa Ruiz also competed in both of the throwing events.
On the track, Latosha Wiford had the best finish in the 100-meter dash, taking 28th with a time of 14.62. Cline, Dantia Palmer, Katie Wiford, Falecia Blow, Cheyenne Mickle and Albaugh all competed in the 100-meter dash. Latosha Wiford took 14th in the 200-meter dash, clocking 30.15 seconds.
The Lady Blazers racked up 13.5 team points to take 12th. Garner accounted for 3.5 points, while Cline and Murphy each added five. Kelly Walsh captured the girls’ team title with 168 points.
