Blazers take 29 places at Binfield Invite

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Torrington Trailblazers had 13 top-six finishes by the boys, 12 by the girls and four relays that placed at the Binfield Invitational in Scottsbluff on Friday.
Logan Harris was one of four Blazers to pick up a first-place finish in individual events. He had a throw of 59 feet, 2 inches in the shot put, which was a personal record in outdoor track for him, to capture the crown. In discus, Harris recorded a throw of 144 feet, 2 inches to finish third.
Jacob Wambolt was the second-best Blazer in the shot put, taking eighth with a throw of 42 feet, 1 inch. Nathaniel Woodruff finished eighth in the discus (118 feet, 6 inches). Woodruff (12th, 39 feet, 8.5 inches), Aaron Loya (14th, 37 feet, 10 inches), Victor Gomez (23rd, 34 feet, 5 inches) and Brandon Bennick (25th, 32 feet, 10 inches) all joined Wambolt and Harris in the shot put. Corbin Harris (13th, 102 feet, 2 inches), Wambolt (16th, 96 feet, 10 inches), Tyler Schaub (17th, 92 feet, 10 inches) and Bennick (19th, 90 feet, 4 inches) all tried their hand at the discus.
Tristan DeMott picked up a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 12 feet. Gavin Garner also placed for Torrington, taking fourth after clearing 11 feet, 6 inches. Jared Spencer (seventh, 11 feet) and Trey Rodriguez (ninth, 10 feet) rounded out the pole-vaulters that recorded a height in Scottsbluff.
Bo Moorehouse was the final boy to win the gold for Torrington with a 55.18 in the 400-meter dash. Moorehouse also finished seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.81). Kevin Parish (seventh, 1:00.24) joined Moorehouse in the finals of the 400 and Frank Rand finished one one-hundredth of a second faster than Moorehouse in the 100-meter finals, taking sixth with a time of 11.80.
In the 200-meter dash, a pair of Blazers finished back-to-back in the finals. Mondell Tolman recorded a time of 24.06 to finish third and DeMott finished fourth with a time of 24.50.

Torrington had three placers over the three distance races. Aaron Borger took fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.93. Josh Posten put together a 5:14.97 effort in the mile to take fourth. Pake Haun was the only Blazer to compete in the 3,200-meter run and he finished sixth (11:44.43). Chance Newman joined Borger in the 800 (12th, 2:29.02).
Casey Britton and Liam Adams in the high jump were the last two boys to place in individual events for Torrington. Britton cleared 5 feet, 6 inches, earning him the fourth spot, while Adams cleared 5 feet, giving him the sixth position.
Rounding out the field events, Jesse Lay was the only Blazer to compete in the triple jump, taking home the 10th spot after a jump of 35 feet. He also was the best long jumper, finishing 16th after a 16 feet, 4.25 inch effort. Dylan Waller (17th, 16 feet, 2.5 inches), Adams (19th, 14 feet, 8.25 inches) and Jacob Wilhoit (22nd, 13 feet, 2 inches) were the other Blazers to compete in the long jump.
The three relay teams for the Torrington boys all placed in the top-six, highlighted by a come from behind first-place finish by the 4x800-meter team of Haun, Posten, Borger and Cameron Juma (9:04.35). Brett Posten, Moorehouse, Rand and Tolman finished second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.44 seconds. In the 4x400-meter relay, Lay, Juma, DeMott and Kevin Parish finished fourth, clocking 3:53.60.
In Lady Blazer action, Renee Cline was the only girl to finish first for Torrington, taking the top spot in the long jump with a jump of 14 feet, 10.5 inches. She also took third in the triple jump, clearing 31 feet, 5.5 inches. Dantia Palmer was not far behind Cline in the triple jump, finishing fifth with a distance of 30 feet, 8 inches.
In the sprints, Shelbey Prusia had a solid day, taking home two second-place finishes. In the 200-meter dash, she clocked a 28.62, and in the 100-meter dash, she clocked a 13.67. Fellow Blazer Katie Wiford was not far behind in either race, finishing third in the 200 with a time of 29.75 and seventh in the 100 with a time of 14.40.
Adia Sherbeyn recorded a third-place finish in the 800-meter run, turning in a time of 2:49.80. Chrissy Lira was two places behind Sherbeyn, finishing fifth with a time of 2:52.78. Brielle Bivens was the only Lady Blazer to run the 1,600-meter, finishing third with a time of 6:58.26. Onalise Albaugh took fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:10.87).
Albaugh, who took sixth in the pole vault, cleared 7 feet, and Nakalyn Garner, who took fourth after getting over 8 feet, were the final two Lady Blazers to record top-six finishes. Aubrey DeMott took 11th in pole vault with a 6 feet, 6 inch effort.
The Torrington girls had only one relay team, with Albaugh, Wiford, Cline and Palmer taking second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:41.28.
Tayte Rodriguez proved to be the best Torrington thrower on Friday, taking seventh in the discus (77 feet, 1 inch) and 10th in the shot put (25 feet). Chloe Krick finished second among the Lady Blazer throwers, taking 14th in the shot with a throw of 21 feet, 6 inches and 13th in the discus with a throw of 63 feet, 4 inches. Teagan Feldt and Vanessa Ruiz both competed in each of the throwing events.
