

Blazers swept in Sidney, Nebraska

Torrington returns home to host Buffalo on Saturday
SIDNEY, Neb. – The Torrington High School basketball teams made their way to Sidney, Nebraska last Tuesday to make up the weather postponed contest.
It ended with a Sidney Red Raider sweep of the Blazers.
In the boys’ game, the Blazers fell 76-44.
Torrington held a brief lead early in the game, but by the middle stages of the opening quarter, the Raiders started to pull away.
By the end of eight minutes, Sidney held a 21-10 lead.
By halftime, the Red Raiders lead reached 41-17.
Coming out of the locker room, the teams played even in the third quarter, scoring 13 points each, but in the fourth quarter, Sidney poured in another 22 points en route to the 32-point victory over the Blazers.
Senior Skylar Sargent led the team with 13 points, while sophomore Mac Hibben tossed in 11. Junior Adam Barlett tossed in six. Senior Ben Firminhac grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
In the girls’ game, Sidney jumped out to a 9-2 lead and cruised to a 57-25 win over the Lady Blazers.
Sophomore Teryn Stokes led the team with seven points, while senior Kalissa Reyes added five.
The loss drops the Lady Blazers to 7-5 on the season.
Torrington hosts the Buffalo Bison on Saturday, Feb. 4. The varsity girls begins at 3 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow at 4:30 p.m.
