DOUGLAS – The Torrington Trailblazers boys’ soccer team picked up a win on the road, beating Douglas on Thursday, 4-1, to remain undefeated at 4-0 on the season.

The Blazers got off to a slow start in the first half, but managed to take a 1-1 tie into intermission.

“The first half was probably the sloppiest half of soccer we have played all year and that ball seemed to fly,” coach Jeshua Arnusch said. “We weren’t able to find chemistry on the turf field and we weren’t able to judge the way the ball was coming off of each other’s feet.”

Torrington came out hot in the second half and netted three goals to take the three-point advantage.

“We made some second-half adjustments and I thought we did a lot better, learning how to judge the ball,” Arnusch said. “We did a solid job of finding each other in the gaps and our defense did a lot better of a job of winning the ball near half.”

Nathan Stitt knocked through two goals to lead the Blazers, with Link Jirasart and A.J. Shields adding one apiece. Stitt and Shields each had an assist, while Ethan Creagar added two to the stat sheet.

“I was really impressed with Link tonight. I though it was his best game of the year,” Arnusch said. “He did a good job of finding space and creating opportunities for us in possession, counters and corners, especially when we had a tough time getting going.”

The Blazers are 4-0 on the young season with a 2-0 record in the conference. Torrington is the only team in 3A that does not have a loss or tie this spring. The Blazers played Newcastle on Tuesday after press deadline. Torrington heads to Worland for a tournament this weekend. The Blazers have games against Star Valley and Worland or Newcastle on Saturday.
