LARAMIE – The Torrington Trailblazers came up short in the 3A State Championship game Friday in Laramie, falling to Cody 20-0.
Torrington dominated many offensive categories, but could not find its way into the end zone and could not stop Cody’s big plays.
Friday was the first time that Torrington had reached the title game since 1996 and the first time battling for the championship at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, a tradition that was started in 2009. Although the Blazers did not pick up the win, Torrington still finished with a 9-2 record and are the 3A runner-ups for the first time in 21 years.
“I can tell you this – there are a lot of teams out there who wish they were in our shoes playing in War Memorial Stadium,” coach Mark Lenhardt said. “Next year is next year, but I really think we should celebrate what happened this year.”
See page B1 for a full recap of Friday’s game.
