ALLIANCE, Neb. – Four Torrington Trailblazer wrestlers picked up wins in a dual against Alliance, Neb., on Tuesday, but it was’t enough, as the team lost 49-19.
“I think the score to me was not indicative of how well we wrestled,” coach Doyle Meyer said. “We just went out there and wrestled tenaciously and with intensity. Those Alliance guys know we really showed up to wrestle.”
Austin Fox (132) got the night started off with a win for Torrington. He and Braydon Wilson went the distance, with Fox picking up the 7-2 win by decision.

“Austin Fox went out and wrestled another great match,” Meyer said.
At 138 pounds, Jacob Polkowske lost by major decision, 8-0. Matthew Garcia (145), Nathan Davis (152), Chase Dominguez (160) and Josh Kingsley (170) all lost by pin. Davis lost in the first period, Garcia in the second and Dominguez and Kingsley both in the third.
Ryan Walson (182) lasted all three periods against Ty Redecker, but lost by a 3-0 decision. Jakob Brott picked up a win for Torrington at 195 pounds via forfeit, before Brandon Bennick (220) lost by pin in the first period. The Blazers gave up wins by forfeits at both 285 and 113 pounds.
Torrington finished the night with two wins. Trey Rodriguez (120) beat Braden Seidler by major decision, 19-5. Tristan Kingsley won by pin in the final match of the night at 126 pounds. He bested Kysen Harris 50 seconds into the third period.
“Trey had a good night and got a win against a good wrestler and Tristan Kingsley wrestled a good match,” Meyer said.
The Blazers return to the mats at the Ron Thon Memorial Tournament in Riverton on Friday and Saturday, with the action starting at 9 a.m. both days.
