TORRINGTON – Bertha Almeda Lyon, 96, died June 7, 2017, in Waverly, Neb.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ted Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington.
Memorials may be made to 3ABN, a broadcast station associated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Bertha was born June 3, 1921, in Douglas, the daughter of Robert Singleton and Martha Mae (Gore) George. Bertha married Dick Lyon on March 28, 1949, in Casper and the couple moved to Torrington shortly after their marriage. She worked as an LPN in Torrington. Bertha also helped her husband on their dairy farm while raising three children. After her husband died, in 2014, she moved to Greeley, Colo., for a short time and then to Waverly to live with her daughter.
Her hobbies included roses, gardening, and canning. She also enjoyed bowling. Bertha was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Lori Lyon of Waverly; her son Gary Lyon of Cheyenne; her brother William George of Greeley, Colo.; her sister Katherin Huey of Portland, Ore; three grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son Loni Lyon; her grandson Jerod Lyon; two sisters Martha Loomer and Frances Morley; and two infant brothers Robert and Arthur George.
