TORRINGTON – Arnold M. Petersen (Pete), 95, of Torrington, passed away peacefully at Denver Hospice on Aug. 26, 2020. 

He was born on Dec. 3, 1924. in Brush, Colo. He worked on ranches around the Denver area for a number of years. He met his wife Betty on a ranch in Nebraska and they were married on Dec. 17, 1971, in Hyannis, Neb. Together they opened up a shoe repair shop in Loveland, Colo. They ran and operated a successful business for 25 years. They bought a farm west of Huntley in 1998, where they settled.

Pete was a member of a barbershop quartet and traveled around with them performing. He loved to sing and had a wonderful tenor voice. Pete spent many a day on his farm tending livestock and working in the fields. He loved and cared for the many animals he had. He enjoyed working with leather and making saddles. 

He attended the Seventh-Day Adventist church in Torrington, where he played many roles. He gave a sermon when needed, led the congregation in singing, taught Sabbath School, and was always a smiling face to greet whomever stepped in the door. 

He is survived by his wife Betty of Torrington, his daughter Kristy Hockensmith of Drake, Colo., his son Sonny Petersen of Denver, his step-son Roy Edwards of Torrington, his step-daughter Marilyn Whitfield of Carr, Colo., his sister Wilma Reid of Cheyenne, his sister Shirley Schilling of Brush, his sister Patricia Belvill of Austin, Colo., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date and cremation has taken place.
