Area pharmacies offer curbside service to customers

TORRINGTON – Three area pharmacies are taking a page from the drive-in diners of the past and offering curbside service for prescriptions and more.

Vandel Drug in Torrington, along with Register Cliff Pharmacy in Guernsey and Rawhide Drug in Lusk, closed to all walk-in traffic last week in an effort to protect both staff and customers during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, customers have been asked to call or text pharmacy managers at the three businesses, then pick up their items from their vehicles.

Pharmacy staff directly assisting customers at curbside are wearing protective masks and disposable gloves. Payment is being coordinated over the phone to eliminate contact and exposure.

“We have a new normal and we’re doing everything we can to keep people healthy,” said Vicki Einhellig, registered pharmacist and one of the principals in RxPlus Tri-State Pharmacies, parent company of the three.

“Limiting area businesses exposure right now is crucial so our teams can continue providing medications to the Wyoming communities they serve,” Einhellig said.

The pharmacies made the transition to curbside service last week, according to a press release from the company. In addition to prescriptions, pharmacy staff will deliver over-the-counter items, gifts and more, the release said.

“I’m very proud of how quickly we’ve adapted to change during this challenging time, said Ashley McDonnell, Vandel Drug manager. “We’re fully operational, taking new patients, and able to provide all the same medications and services prior to the COVID19 outbreak. Our customers have been wonderful and patient, and thankful of our curbside delivery service.”

Traditional home-delivery services are still being offered and customers may request refills via the pharmacy website,

As of Friday, pharmacy hours remained the same, the release said.
