TORRINGTON – Ardith Jean Cassel passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2017, at Torrington Community Hospital.

A celebration of her life was Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church in Torrington.

Mrs. Cassel was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Smith Center, Kansas, but lived most of her life in Torrington. She was the daughter of George and Virginia (West) Maude.

She graduated from Torrington High School in 1953. She married Keith Cassel on Aug. 4, 1953, at the First Presbyterian Church in Torrington. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Kyle, Matthew, and Darren.

She worked at the Farr-Wyoming Company, later Kelly Bean, for many years before realizing her lifelong dream of owning her own clothing store. Ardie's Smart Shop was a downtown fixture for nearly 20 years.

Mrs. Cassel was very involved in the community and loved the town of Torrington and the state of Wyoming. One of her proudest moments was receiving her 50-year pin for her membership in the PEO Sisterhood.

She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a Deacon there at the time of her passing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a doting grand- and great-grandmother, a caring sister and a special friend to many. Some of her favorite times were spending Thursday nights with friends in her “Golf League.”

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years Keith, sons Kyle (Jamie), Matthew (Jane), and Darren (Andria), grandchildren Jay (fiancé Catherine Ryan), Adam (Celica), Ashley (fiancé Matthew Robison), Colby, Sydney Holmgren (Peter), Jesse, Tanner, and Beckett.
