TORRINGTON – Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Adela L. Garcia, 71, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018, at St Rose Catholic Church with Father Andrew Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.
Adela died July 22, 2018, at her home in Torrington.
A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home and the casket will be open at the rosary. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to www.colyerfuneralhome.com.
Adela was born March 13, 1947, in Hondo, Texas, the daughter of Jose and Maria (Gomez) Vara. She grew up in rural areas around Waco, Texas. She married Jose Garcia. They moved to Torrington in 1979. She was a homemaker all her life.
Adela enjoyed playing bingo and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
Adela is survived by her husband Jose Garcia Sr of Torrington; five daughters Christina Garcia, Mary Garcia, Diana Garcia (Mark Hitt), Elaine Garcia and Nancy (Nathaniel) Woodruff all of Torrington; two sons Jose Garcia Jr of Torrington and Terry (Andrea) Garcia of Spearfish, S.D.; five sisters; four brothers; and 20 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and one grandchild.
