TORRINGTON – A veteran Colorado police officer has been selected to lead the law enforcement activities in Torrington.
Mayor Randy Adams announced in a Monday press release the appointment of Matt Johnson as the new City of Torrington’s Chief of Police. Johnson, current District 1 Sergeant with the Fort Collins Police Department, will begin his duties June 15.
His appointment will become effective with the Council’s approval at the May 5 council meeting.
Johnson came highly recommended to the City of Torrington with 19 years of experience in various levels of law enforcement, according to the release. In addition to his duties as District 1 Sergeant, he has experience as a school resource officer, and as a Special Agent criminal investigator in the Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
