2020 Goshen County Primary

With all precincts reporting, Justin Burkart came out on top in the primary race for County Commissioners. He received 1,179, or 40%, to Cecil Sauer’s 1,035. Incumbent Russell “Pinky” Walter received 710.
In the Torrington City Council race, with two open seats, Rick Patterson is leading with 371 votes, with Dennis Kelly second with 330, and Eric Sharp trailing with 216. Patterson said he expects to be sworn in at the next meeting to fill an empty seat vacated in April, when Matt Mattis resigned after he moved out of town.
Incumbent Dist. 5 Rep. Shelly Duncan, running unopposed, won with 1,917 votes to 78 unspecified write-ins.
Incumbent Hans Hunt received more than 98% of the votes, 544-9, to retain his seat as Dist. 2 representative in the Wyoming House.
In state-wide races, Goshen County voters are favoring Cynthia Lummis for U.S. Senator over her nearest competition. Lummis received slightly more than 61% of the vote, with 1,798, outpacing challengers Robert G. Short at 392 votes, Bryan E. Miller with 256 and Donna Rice with 216. The remaining candidates each received fewer than 100 votes.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney is also favored by Goshen County, leading challenger Blake Stanley with more than received almost 78% of the local vote, 2,299 to 652.
