Charles Edwin Lange Aug. 16, 1942- Dec. 27, 2016

Charles Edwin Lange, 74, of Murrieta, Calif., died Dec. 27, 2016, after a battle with Parkinson’s Dementia. He passed peacefully in his home with his wife at his side.

Mr. Lange was born in Morrill, Neb., on August 16, 1942 to Edwin and Elvera (Hawkinson) Lange.

He enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from Morrill, Neb., High School in 1960. Upon completion of his enlistment, he was honorably discharged and became employed by General Telephone.

He worked for GTE for 30 years. During his time with GTE, he married the love of his life, Judith (Weston) Lange. He worked and lived in Yorba Linda, Hemet and Palm Desert, Calif. He later retired to Laguna Niguel, Calif., where he lived for about 18 years before moving to Murrieta in 2014.

Charles and Judith Lange were married on June 14, 1972, and had two children together: Jessica (Lange) Schutz and Charles “Eric” Lange.

Mr. Lange enjoyed billiards, classic cars, shooting sports, college football and spending time with his family. He was a committed follower of Christ, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather “Papa” and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sisters Doris King and Bonita “Bonnie” Reeve.

Survivors include his wife Judith; daughter Jessica and Mark Schutz of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; son Charles “Eric” and Summer of Menifee, Calif.; step-son Chuck Cole and Angela of Murrieta, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson with another great-grandson on the way; sister Joan (Lange) Shannon and Russell of Torrington; brothers Jim Lange of Torrington, and Roger Lange and Jenny of Laughlin, Nev.

A memorial is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Jan. 14, at The Colony Community Center (Ave Florita, Murrieta, Calif., 92562), with a reception to follow. The Rev. Tony Truax will officiate the ceremony.
