TORRINGTON – In an interesting chain of events, the Torrington Police Department and the Goshen County Sheriff’s Department investigated a one-vehicle accident in the soccer field parking lot, just east and north of the VFW on west 25th Avenue on Friday, May 3 at approximately 5 p.m. 

“When officers arrived on scene, they found an SUV in the parking lot that had rolled onto the passenger side,” Torrington Police Chief Matt Johnson said. “A driver and two passengers, all minors, had been in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Thankfully, they were not injured.”  

The police department and sheriff’s office investigated the accident.

“The investigation revealed the vehicle had been westbound in the parking lot and had struck a post, causing it to roll. Speed was determined to be a causal factor, and the driver was issued a citation for careless driving,” Johnson explained.
