TORRINGTON – The deadline to file for an elected office position for the primaries closed on Friday, May 27. 

For the city of Torrington, there are three candidates for Mayor. Two councilmen, Dr. Rick Patterson and Dennis Kelly will be running along with Herb Doby. 

There are also three candidates for the two open council positions. Dr. Kate Steinbock will run for re-election while Shane Viktorin and Wayne Deahl will be on the ballot as well. Along with Steinbock’s seat is Councilman Ted Kinney’s as he will not seek re-election this year. 

On the county side, there are 11 candidates for three Goshen County Commissioner vacancies currently held by John Ellis, Cody Cox and Justin Burkart.

The candidates include Shane Trompke, Chuck Kenyon, Larry Herdt, Ryan Hackbarth, Jered Morrison, Jim Allen, Mike Mackey, Colby Ochsner, Coy Coulson, Aaron Walsh and Michael McNamee.

The only other contested county official position is for sheriff as Kory Fleenor will seek re-election against Tony Goulart. 

In other positions, current Assessor Debbi Surratt, Attorney Eric Boyer, Clerk of District Court Brandi Correa, Coroner Darin Yates and Treasurer Leticia Dominguez are running for re-election while Mary Feagler is running for her first term as County Clerk. 

Candidates for county Republican precinct committeeman include Elden Baldwin for 01-1, Dewey Hageman for 02-2, Shane Viktorin, Douglas Mercer, Herbert Doby, and Clay Peterson for 07-1, Thomas Mitchell for 07-2, David Muhlenkamp and Kenneth Allison for 07-3, Shawn Dovey and Matt Teeters for 08-1, Corey Steinmetz for 08-2, Hugh Hageman for 09-1, Kody McClun for 13-1, Mike Ridenour for 15-1, Jeff Jones for 16-1, Kent Hunter for 17-1, and Kirk Haas for 18-1. 

Robert Melonuk is the lone Democratic precinct committeeman candidate running for the 09-1 precinct. 

Candidates for county Republican precinct committeewoman include Teena Baldwin for 01-1, Dinelle Hageman for 02-1, Pat Goyen, Jackie Van Mark, Ruth Van Mark, Diane Mercer, Rebecca Doby, Vickie Zimmer, Susan Johnson, Jane Iddings, Dee Bott and Mary Jane Lewis for 07-1, Maxine Mitchell, Kathy Trumbull and Kelly Groene for 07-2, Lois Van Mark, Mary Viktorin and, Sheila Muhlenkamp for 07-3, Susan Dovey for 08-1, Cheri Steinmetz for 08-2, Mary Lee Hageman for 09-1, Lori Schafer for 13-1, Cindy Ridenour for 15-1, Jill Tregemba for 16-1, Celsie Sussex and Lillian Green for 17-1, Stephanie Haas for 18-1and Teresa Baker for 20-1. 

The primary election will be on Aug. 16.
